WHAT IS A SEER RATING?
A S.E.E.R. (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) is a measure of the energy efficiency of an AC system permiting consumers to compare operating costs that can be applied to all units and compensates for varying weather conditions.
The higher the SEER. rating the more efficient the unit is, the lower energy is spent.
How to Calculate Energy Usage using an Air Conditioner's SEER rating
SEER 10 = 10 BTUs/WattHour. In other wrods an air conditioner that has a SEER rating of 10 will provide 10 BTUs of cooling per WattHour (Wh) of operation.
Below is a graph showing operating costs for units with different SEER ratings.
